CICA
The International Interdisciplinary Congress of Children and Adolescents is the annual event of NICA, which seeks to discuss, analyze, debate, problematize and disseminate research and good practices, promoting a better understanding and deepening of children and adolescents, in the most varied contexts. and scientific and development areas.
In 2016, the I CICA took place on the 21st and 22nd of October, at the University of the Azores, and its theme was "Views on Childhood", in a broader perspective on childhood and its problems. In 2017, the II CICA took place, under the theme "Literacy in the 21st Century", seeking to scalp a better understanding of literacies and their various meanings.

The III CICA took place from 25 to 27 October 2018 and was under the theme "Learning Contexts" and lasted until January 2019, when the seminar "Development, Learning and Inclusive Education" took place.
The IV CICA took place from October 17 to 19, 2019, under the theme "Diversities". This IV CICA, seeking to respond to the training needs identified by the participants in previous editions, will discuss the perspective of Inclusive Education in close articulation with the different curricular areas.
The V CICA - Let's Play?! took place in October 2021, in a hybrid format, with online conferences and in-person workshops focused on play and its importance for children's development.
The VI CICA - Around the problems, will take place between October 27 and November 5, 2022 in a hybrid format (online and in-person workshops). More information soon.
(H) THE TALK ABOUT...
Roundtable cycle, designed to address different themes related to childhood and adolescence, in a logic of discussion and close conversation between guests and audience. It takes place at the end of the afternoon, with some periodicity, in different places on the Island of S. Miguel and is aimed at a very wide audience, interested in the problems related to these age groups.

PHILOSOPHY, CHILDHOOD AND EDUCATION
This is an event specifically aimed at the area of Philosophy for Children, having as its first target audience the students of the Master's course in Philosophy for Children at the University of the Azores. It aims to provide close contact with leading international experts in the field, who travel to the University of the Azores for workshops and practical work sessions. At the same time, the event also includes some sessions open to the general public, to publicize the area of Philosophy for Children among all interested parties. The I Philosophy , Childhood and Education took place in June 2017 and was attended by Professora Megan Laverty.
The II Philosophy, Childhood and Education took place in July 2018 and was attended by Professor Walter Omar Kohan.
The III Filosofia, Infância e Educação took place between June and October 2019 and extended its activities to different areas of S. Miguel (schools and university), as well as the island of Santa Maria. We welcomed five international experts - David Kennedy, Nadia Kennedy, Walter Kohan, Vanise Dutra and Maxiiliano Duran – and many activities were promoted.
PHILOSOPHANS
Philosophies: philosophy and childhood workshop, é um encounter que seeks to promote a series of Philosophy for Children sessions with_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d students EBS from Vila Franca do Campo, accompanied by parents and guardians. The sessions are facilitated by experts in the field, current and former students of the Master's in Philosophy for Children at the University of the Azores, and are held during the course's face-to-face meeting.
This event is organized by the Philosophy for Children project team at EBS in Vila Franca do Campo, by NICA: Interdisciplinary Center for Children and Adolescents and by the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the University of the Azores. Account, still, with the support of Vila Franca do Campo City Council.
The first Philosofâncias took place on January 26, 2019 and on February 1, 2020 the 2nd Philosofâncias took place at the University of the Azores.

International Meeting of Children's Literature and Literary Education
Between September 17 and October 2, 2021, at the University of the Azores in Ponta Delgada, the INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF CHILDREN'S LITERATURE AND LITERARY EDUCATION took place.
This meeting was aimed at educators and teachers of all levels of education, as well as librarians, ATL promoters, psychologists, guardians and all those interested in the subject.
The event was held at different times: an online conference on September 17, and three face-to-face workshops, dedicated to the Promotion of Reading, Writing and Illustration.

WEBNICA
Set de webinars (online conferences), lasting one hour each, aimed at discussing and analyzing issues concerning childhood and adolescence.
Each session is guided by an expert in the field, who presents an intervention for 30 minutes. The second part of the session (30 minutes) is reserved for debate. Participants can ask questions via chat or using image and sound. The 1st group of webinars took place between March and June 2017.
