He graduated in Basic Education - 1st Cycle, having developed a degree research project in the area of Dramatic Expression.
He holds a Master's degree in Education, specializing in the Design and Development of Educational Projects, having developed his research work in the initial training of the 1st Cycle Teacher of Basic Education.

He holds a PhD in Education, having developed his research in the context of the professional learning of the Teacher of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, at the beginning of his career.
Assumes teaching duties at the Department of Education of the University of the Azores - institution in which he developed his entire academic career at higher level - in the areas of Artistic Expressions, Pedagogical and Didactic Practice of Pre-School Education and teaching of the 1st Cycle of Education Basic.
It has carried out continuous training actions for Educators and Teachers (in the area of artistic expressions), participated in several national and international projects, within the scope of educational sciences, artistic studies and the study of regional heritage linked to the recreational component, and published some work in these areas, the result of investigations carried out in all the islands of the archipelago.
He is the current Vice-Rector of the University of the Azores.
